3/8” wide ribbon – use 3” to 3 ½” each piece to make a 1 ½” wide bow.
5/8” wide ribbon – use 4 ½” each piece to make a 2” wide bow.
7/8” wide ribbon – use 5” each piece to make a 3 Ό” wide bow.
1 ½” wide ribbon – use 6 ½” each piece to make a 3 Ό” wide bow.
**All final bow widths are approximate. Using longer ribbon can create a fluffier bow and may affect the over all width.
 

Step-by-Step Instructions

	Pick colors of ribbon and cut them according to the list above. Seal ends.
	Overlap ends of ribbon 1/2" as shown. Ribbons should be laid out with ribbon colors arranged how you would like loops to look in final product. DO NOT glue the ribbon - it will make it hard for the needle to go through and can make the center too stiff to cinch properly.
	**NOTE: if you are using printed ribbon, lay the ribbon with the print down so you can’t see it.
	When the ends are folded to the center, the print will be visible.
	Lay top two ribbons over bottom two ribbons 1/2" (for 1 ½” wide ribbon). If you are using 3/8” or 5/8” ribbon, overlay them half of ribbon width. 7/8” ribbon overlay 1/3” of ribbon width. Can be adjusted to preference.
	Using a needle and thread, put two stitches through all 4 layers of ribbon as shown. Pull the needle through. The needle should be on the same side as the bottom ribbon colors. The thread is to hold the ribbon pieces together. It doesn’t need to be stitched several times.
	Fold bottom ribbons to center as shown.
	Use needle and thread to put first stitch through all layers of bottom two ribbon colors. Start the needle about 1/8” from the edge on top of the ribbon. Do not pull the needle all the way through.
	If you are using printed ribbon, your bow should look this this example.

	Again, here is a printed ribbon example.
	Use needle and thread to complete and start to gather center.
	Make sure the needle tip finishes on top of the ribbon, about 1/8” from the edge.

	Gather center firmly and tightly wrap thread around center. You should feel thread from first holding stitch pull so it will gather, otherwise it will be too loose. I wrap the thread around two times and then do a secure knot on the back.
	You can now add a decorative ribbon center and/or secure to a headband or clip of choice. Congratulations!
